Dew Tour is returning to Breckenridge starting this Thursday, bringing with it some of the top athletes in the skiing and snowboarding world and some of the most progressive competition formats ever. With events, concerts, and after parties Dew Tour is one of the biggest events in Breckenridge!
New Course Designs
In an effort to change the stale feel of competitive skiing and snowboarding in recent years due to the “plus-one formula,” where athletes add one more rotation or twist to an existing trick, Dew Tour is mixing up the way the courses are built and riders are judged. This year they hope to progress the design of the slopestyle course to help propel the sport into the future. To do that they are splitting the slopestyle course into two different competitions. The jib competition will allow skiers and riders to show off their skills on rails, boxes, and the like while the jump competition will give athletes a chance to wow the judges with their areal skills. Traditionally these two sections are combined into one course. Dew Tour hopes to incorporate a high level of creativity in these course in hopes of encouraging athletes to try new tricks and combinations. Check out This Video to get a preview of the newer course design!
On a sad note, due to the lack of early season snow this year, Dew Tour was forced to cancel the ever popular Superpipe competition. Hopefully next year will provide for some better building snow early on.
One of the favorite events Dew Tour completes every year in Breckenridge is the Streetstyle competition where skiers and riders shut down Breckenridge’s Main Street and take over the Plaza in Breckenridge by building jibs and jumps right through the center of town. This competition just so happens to take place right at the doorstep of Coldwell Banker Mountain Property’s Breckenridge Office. Stop into the office and say hello and warm up while you are out watching the Streetstyle competition this Friday!
This is always a fun event to watch so make a trip up to Breckenridge to catch a glimpse of some of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders!
